Here within lie the Archives of the Norrath Secret Society, gathered against the patient hostility of time.
I am Mordven Nocturnis, Lorekeeper of the Veil, and much of what you find here was set down by my own hand: chronicles of our members, accounts of the places we have walked, inquiries into histories that others preferred left buried, and the records of deeds that would otherwise dissolve into rumor the moment the last witness fell silent. Yet not all of it is mine. Some of these writings were preserved long before my time, carried forward by those who kept the memory of the Society before the pen passed to me. I am their inheritor, not their origin, and I labor only to be worthy of what was entrusted to me.
An archive is not a vault for the dead. It is a promise made to the living, and to those not yet born into our fellowship. A life set down honestly proves that such a life was possible. A battle recorded truthfully teaches those who must one day fight a harder version of it. A grief named plainly is a grief that need not be carried alone. This is why we preserve what we preserve, and why we refuse the comfortable lie that memory tends itself. Memory tended by no one becomes vulnerable to theft, to distortion, and to the slow erasure that power so often mistakes for peace.
Therefore every member of the Norrath Secret Society is encouraged to submit their own writings, that they too may be gathered here and endure. Bring your histories, your field accounts, your songs, your quarrels with the record, and the small ordinary truths that grander tales forget. You need not be a scholar, and you need not arrive with your story polished. You need only offer it honestly, and I will see it kept.
What is written honestly is not lost. What is remembered cannot be wholly buried. And what this Society preserves together will outlast the hands that first set it down.
